There are two ways to run electrical wiring on the exterior walls of a house or other structure.
Wire feed to attic.
When you find the hole in the wall plate remove the wire then uncoil the end of an electrician s fish tape and insert it through the drilled hole in the wall plate.
Extend the blade of the fish tape until it is visible in the wall.
If you re working from the attic you can drop a weighted string down wall cavity then attach the wire to the string and pull it through.
Then you can feed a fish stick in there go in the attic and attach the wire to the fish stick hint long fish stick less belly crawling and pull it back.
Enter the attic or crawlspace and look for the wire extending through the drilled hole.
Bring all of the wire up into the attic.
While one person holds the flashlight the other person should use a staple gun to run the wire along the rafters from one entry hole to the other.
One method is to run individual wires.
It will be next to impossible to drill downward under the portion of the roof that slopes to the attic floor without a right angle drill.
The staple gun should be loaded with wire staples designed for holding the size and type of wire you are running.
5 attach the wiring in the 3 by 5 inch hole to the end of the fish tape.

Keep the fish tape against the inner edge of the drywall and out of the insulation as you feed it toward the upper hole.
